Who is it for?

Aberystwyth AC Juniors hold 2 weekly term-time training sessions: one for primary juniors (years 3-6) and secondary juniors (year 7 upwards) 

  • 7 year olds may be accepted by agreement between coaches and parents.

What do we do?

The sessions are primarily to promote and to enjoy running but there are a variety of activities covered in our junior sessions to encourage movement and strength.

Where and When?

ALL training sessions are held in Aberystwyth. Most sessions start from Penweddig School fields behind Penweddig School, Aberystwyth SY23 3QN. If there is a different location planned for a specific week, this will be advertised in advance via the Aber AC Juniors FB site https://www.facebook.com/groups/556272844410105

Tuesday – Sessions last for 45 minutes
4.15pm – Primary juniors from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 only.
5.15pm – Secondary juniors only 

Membership is a pre requisite for attending training. Annual membership runs from April – March and this provides your junior with running training sessions throughout this period.

Only attend training if you are fit and well. If in doubt please do not attend.

There are no sessions held during school holidays.

Our club Welfare officers are Helen Williams and Cameron Pope. If you need to contact Helen or Cameron please e-mail them using the following address: welfare@aberystwythac.co.uk and they will reply to you. All communications will be in strictest confidence. Potential issues or complaints will be dealt with in line with Welsh Athletics and the clubs code of conduct.

Elizabeth Kensler – Leader in Running Fitness and Coaching Assistant

Cameron Pope – Leader in Running Fitness and Coaching Assistant 

Owain Schiavone – Leader in Running Fitness and Coaching Assistant 

Joe Wilkins – Leader in Athletics 

Our Child Welfare Commitments

Ensuring that all our coaches are appropriately qualified with UK: Athletics and accept responsibility for helping to prevent the abuse of children in their care.

Responding swiftly and appropriately to all suspicions or allegations of abuse, providing parents and children with the opportunity to voice any concerns they may have.

Appointing Child Protection Officers who will take specific responsibility for child protection and act as a point of contact for parents, children and outside agencies.

Ensuring that access to confidential information is restricted to the Child Protection Officers or the appropriate external authorities.

Reviewing the effectiveness of our child Protection Policy and activities annually.
